Description

6SD312EI compact, plug-and-play, six-channel SCALE-1 IGBT drivers suit all EconoPACK™+ and compatible modules.

The 6SD312EI drivers are based on CONCEPT's proprietary SCALE-1 chipset, a proven technology that enables the reliable driving and safe operation of IGBTs. Drivers are fully equipped with protection functions including: Vce-monitoring for short-circuit protection; operation inhibit after fault; supply-undervoltage shut down.

The driver supplies a gate current of +12 A / -6 A. Operating the gates with a bipolar control voltage (typically ±15 V) allows the modules to be driven reliably and with a high level of immunity to interference.

The drivers feature an active clamping function, which provides rugged and high-performance protection for costly IGBTs.

On-board DC/DC converters provide self-contained, isolated power of 3 W per channel.

The DIC40 electrical interface operates on a 15 V logic level to ensure high noise immunity.
The driver supports two independent driver channels per half-bridge or a half-bridge mode with internal dead-time generation.

The standard package of EconoPACK+ and compatible modules covers several voltage and current ratings. Some driver parameters must therefore be matched to the relevant module. This is achieved by placing all specific components on a separate Base Board which is completely assembled and tested by CONCEPT.

The Base Board contains all the necessary gate resistors, gate-clamping and active-clamping diodes (overvoltage protection) as well as the diodes for the collector-sense function (surge current and short-circuit protection). Moreover, it includes components for setting the turn-off trip level and the response time. It contains only standard through-hole components and can therefore be easily adjusted by the user to fit any special requirements and applications. 
The Base Board can be soldered directly onto the IGBT module. The 6SD312EI driver is mounted on top of the appropriate Base Board using spacer bolts.
